Every Gift Helps Break Down Barriers to Success
Impacting the lives of today’s children and tomorrow’s workforce
Did You Know That Kids Only Spend About 20% of Their Time in a Classroom?
That means 80% of a child’s day is spent elsewhere. And in Sioux Falls, a third of kids — that’s more than 8,000 students — face barriers outside the classroom that block their ability to perform better in school.
Sioux Falls Thrive focuses on three key obstacles to student success: access to food, what the kids are doing when they’re out of school, and where they live.
Recent Thrive Studies Show:
17% of children in Minnehaha County are food insecure — an increase from 2018.
913+ families are waiting for childcare openings for their children.
1,100 (or more) school-age children are homeless in Sioux Falls at some point during the school year.
Working Together to Help Kids Succeed
Using a model for collaboration called Collective Impact, Sioux Falls Thrive brings together individuals and organizations to realign existing resources. They work together to find ways to remove obstacles to student success and foster opportunities for all children, from cradle to career.
Your donations support Thrive’s work with individual volunteers and representatives from non-profit, faith-based, government and business organizations. Collectively, they’re working to impact the lives of today’s children and tomorrow’s workforce.
