Shoppers can expect updates to inventory, pricing, and sales locations in the coming weeks as the Eat Well Sioux Falls Mobile Market undergoes changes in its management and business plan.

Local grocery consultant Kristin Johnson has taken the reins for the remainder of the pilot phase of the local grocery store on wheels. Kristin was a member of the original grant-writing team in the fall of 2022. She has served on the Mobile Market Advisory Board since the summer of 2023, a position she resigned when she was chosen to oversee the Mobile Market.

The Mobile Market is a project of Sioux Falls Thrive, the community’s cradle-to-career workforce development initiative. Startup funding for the Mobile Market was provided through a grant from the Sioux Falls Health Department. Additional support has come from the Wellmark Foundation, the Soukup Family, local churches, and private donors.

The Eat Well Sioux Falls Mobile Market’s goal is to provide convenience and affordability for shoppers, particularly in neighborhoods without access to traditional grocery stores. The pilot phase could last at least through 2024. Eventually, the Mobile Market is expected to become a sustainable community asset owned by a complementary non-profit or other support organization.
