Free meals are served from 5 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday at the Nightwatch food truck outside Laura B. Anderson Elementary School. This meal service opportunity is available to families, churches, businesses, and service groups.

The Riverside neighborhood has a meal service opportunity for you. We’re looking for a few good team builders to help feed the community in the attendance areas for Laura B. Anderson (LBA) Elementary School.

The meal service began as part of the Kid Link initiative, a collaborative effort among neighbors, non-profit organizations, churches, the school district, local businesses and government officials. With Kid Link transitioning to the Community Learning Center within the Sioux Falls School District, neighbors and friends have taken on the role of organizing the weekly meals.

We’re all in this together!

A nutritious meal is connected to the neighborhood’s weekly food giveaway at nearby Sermon on the Mount Mennonite Church. We need your help to get it done. This meal service opportunity is good for food service teams, local businesses, church groups, families, friend groups and anyone interested in serving, or donating for a meal to be prepared and served!

Nightwatch truck and bookmobile

In 2022, the Nightwatch food truck provided more than 8,000 meals to families in the Riverside neighborhood. Click here to read the Impact Report.

Your team can donate, prep and serve a simple, nutritious meal to about 200 people. You’ll need a cook to create a balanced meal, and two or three people to set up, serve and clean up.
