Mayor Paul TenHaken, and staff from Sioux Falls Thrive and Feeding South Dakota will help introduce the new Mobile Market and its manager, Luke Senst. The public will be invited to tour the Mobile Market following the event.

The Eat Well Mobile Market program was developed by a community coalition led by Sioux Falls Thrive. Other partners include Fair Market/EmpowerFirst United Methodist ChurchFirst Presbyterian ChurchChurch on the StreetAugustana Research InstituteActive GenerationsSioux Falls Food Co+opFeeding South Dakota, and Thrive’s Food Security Action Team.

The mobile market is a grocery store on a repurposed vehicle that will bring healthy foods to low-access areas. The vehicle will visit identified neighborhoods to provide a dignified, fun, and healthy shopping experience for people who are hampered by distance from grocery stores, income, and transportation limitations to get healthy food. Shoppers will pay for the food as they would in any grocery store, which will include using SNAP benefits for payment.

The Mobile Market is funded by local contributions and an Eat Well Sioux Falls grant awarded in April 2023 by the City of Sioux Falls Health Department.

The goal of the Eat Well Sioux Falls Mobile Market is to ensure equitable access to regular, reliable, healthy, affordable retail grocery options for low-income, low-access neighborhoods in Sioux Falls.
